Rave ‘n’ Crave Wednesday: Vegan Presence’s Monthly Subscription Service

An independent, vegan monthly subscription service that ships from Detroit!! Need I say more?

Yes, I still subscribe to PopSugar and Healthy Surprise’s Monthly Boxes. For me, supporting more 100% vegan companies is very important. Healthy Surprise is vegan. PopSugar’s “Must Have” Box, while often vegan, (probably by accident) is not. I set out on an Internet quest to find more monthly subscription boxes that were hopefully vegan. I found Blissmo and Vegan Presence and signed up for both.

Blissmo advertises themselves as a subscription service with “Premium Organic, Non-Toxic, Eco-Friendly Products.” For $19.95 (plus $4.95 shipping) you are supposed to get $20-$40 worth of products from different categories that you can choose every month. You also have to option to skip a month. The first month, I ordered the beauty box. The second month, I wanted the “Pantry Box,” but couldn’t figure out if the food items were vegan. I called their customer service number, left a message, and no one ever called me back. I ended up getting the “Cleaning Box” because after a couple of hours, they had already sold out of the “Pantry Box” and I had to pick from what was left. Quite frankly, I was unimpressed with both of the boxes I received from them and will attempt (I’ve heard people have had problems) to cancel my subscription. There is no cancellation option online and after not being able to reach anyone via phone, I sent them an email. We will see what happens.

Vegan Presence was a breath of fresh air! There is a questionnaire that you fill out upon signing up. You are asked things like your favorite color and if you have pets. How thoughtful is that? Their packages usually arrive in biodegradable bubble mailers with eco-friendly biodegradable packaging. The compostable packaging, while functional, is also quite beautiful in its own way. Anything could be in a Vegan Presence box which makes it even more of a surprise. So far, I’ve received packages from Vegan Presence for two months. My favorite items have been a glass jelly jar complete with a lid with a hole in it for a hand blown glass straw from Moxie Glass (the first month) and an SPF Tangerine Chamomile Hurraw Lip Balm (second month). Vegan Presence is $23 for one month, $60 for three months, or $115 for six months. The opportunity to support an independent, vegan monthly subscription service that ships from Detroit? Priceless.
